History
Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico was incorporated under the Laws of Puerto Rico on April 23, 1963. It commenced operations on February 8, 1965. It is a cooperative organized under chapter 34 of the Insurance Code of Puerto Rico.
Its owners are 200 other cooperatives (credit unions and other types). Each cooperative has one a vote in the delegate's assembly, which takes place once a year. They select a thirteen-member Board of Directors, which is the ruling body at Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples.
Since its founding in 1963, Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples has maitained a high degree of solvency and financial stability. At present, it is one of the principal property/casualty insurance companies in Puerto Rico. It has received excellent classifications awarded by rating companies, such as A.M. Best, Demotech, Standard and Poor's and Weiss Safety Rate.
As a non-profit organization, Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico sponsors and promotes various community activities such as AcuaCoop and a speech contest. It also owns and maintains the most complete Puerto Rican contemporary art collection on the Island, which is on display at our main office and is open for public viewing.
