Personal Information Confidentiality Policy

Information received from our customers is an essential element in the rendering of the excellent services offered by Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico , (Further on, the Cooperativa) to its customers. We appreciate the level of confidence you have granted towards our company by providing your personal information. This is why we assure you that protection and confidentiality of personal information, as well as the careful handling thereof — always respecting our customers’ privacy — is of utmost priority for us at Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples de Puerto Rico.

This notice regarding Privacy Policy includes examples on the type of personal information which is gathered and the companies with which we share such data. The following is a description of the methods we use in managing your personal information:

1. Type of information that we gather.

A.Information voluntarily furnished by you to us or to any of our sales agents, representatives or brokers in connection with the obtainment of any insurance service or product. Generally, the information that we gather consists of your name, address, telephone number, business or occupation, Social Security Number, description of property to be insured or place where we are to provide some type of service. Your occupation, financial condition or hobbies may be inferred from said information.

B. Information on transactions or undertakings conducted with us in connection with insurance policy coverage, premiums, claim number, claims file, claims history, history of insurance transactions, description and value of insured property.

These are examples of the types of information that we gather for purposes of illustration and should not be considered to be a complete enumeration of the types of information that we gather.

2. Information we share.

On occasions we might need to share the previously described information with our affiliates. These include; Number One Auto Parts, Alianza Hipotecaria, Inc., Central Credit Corporation and Real Legacy Assurance. The Cooperativa does not share personal information of its clients with third parties or non-affiliated companies.

As an exception, and as provided by law, we are allowed to share the aforementioned information with the people or businesses that on our behalf provide the services that we offer to our customers.

We are also allowed share said information with companies that perform services on our behalf during marketing campaigns of our services or products or with other institutions with which we have executed joint agreements for the marketing of our products or services. We only share with said persons, companies or businesses such information as is absolutely necessary to reach our marketing goals and to offer the aforementioned services. Pursuant to a written contract, we require these persons, companies or businesses to keep said information in strict confidentiality and limit the use thereof to the purposes for which it was provided.

3. Information on former customers.

The Cooperative does not share personal information on former customers, except as permitted by law.

4. Protection of information.

The Cooperative protects the confidentiality of all personal information that it obtains with respect to you, including information obtained through its web-site, by keeping the necessary physical and electronic security measures in place, as required by applicable law.

We have also adopted procedures aimed at protecting your personal information from unauthorized use or disclosure. In order to internally secure the information of its clients, the Cooperativa limits access of such data exclusively to employees and officials who esteem it necessary for facilitating the products and services we provide or whenever needed to comply with any regulation, judicial order or federal or state law. All our employees have been fully oriented on their obligation to maintain strict confidentiality in regards to the personal information of our clients.

At the Cooperative, we hold our employees responsible for compliance with our confidentiality policy and take such disciplinary measures as may be applicable in accordance with our Employee Manual.
