Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples (CSM) became the latest in the list of supporters of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) upon donating $25,000 to the Endowment Fund of this institution of higher learning.
The donation was presented to the president of UPR, Antonio Garcia Padilla, Esq. during a ceremony carried out at the central offices of CSM in San Juan.
Participating in this activity were the president of CSM, Mr. René Campos Carbonell and members of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative, joined by the Board’s past president, Hector Torres Catalán, Esq.
Motivated by the 100th anniversary of the first center of learning in Puerto Rico, the aforementioned donation is in addition to various financial apportionments that CSM assigns annually to educational institutions and students in Puerto Rico. “Our firm maintains a tradition of promoting education, and the University as the great educational project of all Puerto Ricans. Including the University of Puerto Rico in our initiatives makes us proud in a very special way since it is also the Alma Mater of many of those who form part of the Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples,” said Mr. Campos Carbonell. On his part, UPR President García Padilla, emphasized the values that unite both institutions and commented that UPR and CSM reaffirm the commitment to develop, promote and foment education and the interest in culture.
“As the first center of learning, the University shares with Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples its leadership, roots and a strong bond with the community, as well as its interest in preserving our artistic and cultural patrimony,” Mr. García Padilla said.
“With this generous financial contribution we reaffirm the aforementioned bonds and the commitment of those who, as former alumni, are a part of the University. Cooperativa had many alternatives when the time came to choose the recipients of these donations. By choosing the University, Cooperativa reaffirms the community’s judgment in regard to the solidity of the University project. That judgment makes us proud,” declared the UPR President.
This was the first time this insurer received the visit of a UPR President. “Many of the employees and members of the CSM Board of Directors are former alumni of the University. For this reason it was an immense pleasure for all to receive the president of our first center of learning and welcome Mr. Garcia Padilla,” Mr. Campos Carbonell indicated.
Recently, UPR held various activities to commemorate its first centennial.
Cooperativa de Seguros Múltiples joins this celebration with this donation,
which will give continuity to various projects that this university has already
established.
